Spike TV today announced that their broadcast of two preliminary bouts from last weekend’s UFC 108 event drew 1.5 million viewers.  The figures show a slight improvement on previous prelim shows, which had fluctuated between 1.3 – 1.4 million.

The hour long show featured Martin Kampmann’s convincing first round victory over Jacob Volkmann, and Cole Miller’s impressive opening round submission win over Dan Lauzon.  With both fights ending quickly the show also aired other fights from the preliminary bout along with interviews with main event star Rashad Evans and UFC president Dana White.

According to Spike the show garnered a 1.3 household rating among men 18-49 and 1.4 among men 18-34 – key demographic groups for many advertisers.

The increase is good news for the station who recently announced that they plan to air ten prelim shows in the coming year.
