Breaking news from the WEC is that one of the promotion’s key stars Urijah Faber has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 50 due to injury.

Former featherweight champion Faber had been set to make his bantamweight debut in the co-main event of the stacked show, but received an injury during training on Monday which has forced him to pull out of the August 18th fight.

Sherdog.com reports that the injury won’t require surgery and he is expected to return in September.

Faber is set to release a video giving more details later today so check back for and update on this story.

Meanwhile it’s believed that the WEC will not be seeking a replacement for Mizugaki at their 50th event which is headlined by the bantamweight title fight between Dominic Cruz and Joseph Benavidez.
